Newbie!!! Help Question!!
Hello Im here to this site get an answer on something so after 8 years of my TPI running O.K.! I said hey new plugs and wires and a rebuild on the dist. well everything went smooth but I was wanting to check my facts on timing a TPI so (GOOGLE) to the rescue..... I did as stated-6 degrees BTDC and dropped the dist. and afterwards unplug the timing wire and set the timing well everything went well from what I can see but Afterwards I reread the article and it said for me to turn OFF the car unplug the wire and restart and make my adjustments and then turn OFF the car reconnect and BAM it should be good..... Well I never turned off the car is this a bad thing..... Car runs Damn good even a Little Better than it has ever run. but Im just wondering... Thanks for any help on this matter!!!!

Re: Newbie!!! Help Question!!
Hook up your timing light and then unhook the EST wire to bypass the timing adjust the ECM makes. Start your car (with the wire unhooked) and point your timing light at the timing tab. Make sure your distributor isn't tighten all the way down so you can adjust it while your car is running. Counter clockwise advances. Once you get the timing to the mark. Then turn your car off and tighten down your distributor and hook the EST bypass wire back up. Then you're good to go and now your ECM will do the rest of the timing.

Then you'll need to go back through the steps. You're not suppose to unhook or hook the EST bypass wire with the car is running.
