One of a kind maf problem

I recently bought this 86 Iroc with 5.0 tpi. Previous owner had wired in new maf, burnoff, and fuel relays with new harness's. I put new fuel pump and injectors and gave it a tuneup, also put new maf on as I was getting code 33. Then realized there was a short as it ran the battery dead overnight. When I connect battery cable, the burnoff relay clicks and continues to draw 12 volts. If I disconnect maf sensor, stops current draw. Have checked the grounds with meter, even disconnected ecm to rule that out. All this with the key off. I cannot find anyone with this problem and could use some help with this one, as I have ohmed all wires on circuit and am stumped. PLEASE, Anyone, help.

Beginning to think the new maf sensor itself is bad. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: One of a kind maf problem

I bet the wiring for the relay is mixed up. The previous owner may have switched the trigger wire and 12V+ wire for the relay. You will need to decide which is the trigger wire for that relay and trace it, my bet is it is connected to a 12V+ source instead of a switch.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply, that put me in the right direction. They had the harness wired to right colors, but had to repin the connector. Would have thought a new relay harness would havened have been wired correct for the relay. That's what I get for thinking.
