Need help getting to know TPI System.

Went to look at an 87 iroc Lb9 today,305 tpi.

I need to know what all the crucial sensors are on a TPI system and any common faults.
All my thirdgens have always been carbed so a tpi system is new to me what is the main advantage of this system?

Right off the bat the car smelled like burned oil and i heard what sounded like lifters ticking, is lifter tick common on 87+ cars? I will probably be buying it anyway because ill be getting an l31 crate motor soon but i need to do a tune up on the lb9 and replace any important sensors to get me through a couple of weeks.

Ill be checking out the car again tomorrow and im looking for advice on what to look for.

thanks guys any info appreciated.

Typical of any hi mileage engine , possibly on death row
A tune may do little if it is burning oil bad

Yep.

I have just about replaced every sensor in my car except the ICM and the Oxygen Sensor (which I'm about to do)
