Ok.. I got a 86v Trans Am.. I went to this race n seen this trans am runnin the **** out of these mustangs.. he only had a 305 tpi.. I'm tryin to get mines to ran like hell witout changin the computer.. I got long tube headers I just got n a exhaust system.. but I wanna run wit my 305 I got.. I wanna run past ls1 wit this 305 tpi lol.. what should I do? I'm not rich kinda got a couple 100 every 2 weeks for this car..

Without changing the computer you can add that kind of performance with a dry nitrous oxide system that can be put together for around $300 for the parts. If you are not familiar with N2O use, or you don't know anyone who can help you/supervise, then you may want to hold off on that kind of performance adder for a while. Also you don't want to be adding a lot of power if this is your only means of transportation. High power output always finds the weak points on your car by breaking them.

Most exhaust modifications can be done without modification to the computer, but quality exhaust parts are made of stainless-steel and are not cheap.

Most of the other routes to adding significant power to your 305 will involve computer changes.

There are many small free and cheap mods you can do to gain a noticeable amount of power, but they will not be enough to bring performance up to that of an LS1.

You can gain a lot of helpful information by reading the stickies, tutorials, and technical data on this site.
