timing & idle

hi ,im just been trying to time up my 305 tpi ,to 6degress btdc put when i turn the dizzy round to get the mark on the outer pulley and also to get a nice throttle response its idleing very high ,but if i turn it back round to idle nice the throttle bog downs,ive unplugged the tan wire off the dizzy ,do i need to unplug the iac etc and also the tps sensor when i time it up then re set the iac valve ,when ive timed it up the air mixture screw is screwed quite for back and makes no difference its still idleing very high ,whats the normal procedre any help much appreciated ,thanks dez

For timing you need to unplug the tan timing wire only. Set timing to 6 degrees and lock it down. when you plug in the wire, the ECM takes over and changes timing based on RPM and manifold pressure. procedures for IAC and TPS are in the stickys
