Timing Procedure Question
I've read the "typical" timing procedure, which is 6 degrees advance for a TPI engine. The question I have, is unplugging the ESC module on the firewall the same thing as disconnecting the tan/blk wire from the four wire plug? According to my 1985 GM shop manual, there is a "set timing" connector somewhere on the tan/blk wire, but I can't see it. Seems like my only option is to cut it, as I'm not too confident the four wire plug will stay in one piece if I try to take it apart.
I think my driveability issues are related to my base timing, which is where I'm starting. Any observations would be a huge help.
The car is a 1985 IROC with TPI, recently converted from an automatic to a manual transmission.
Thanks.

Re: Timing Procedure Question
Thank you! I expected it to be placed between the four wire connector and the wiring harness. Obviously wrong!
