hesitation / revs drop away on their own ?
Hey guys,
my car has started doing this weird thing, if your driving slowly and are gradually building upto about 30 or 40 and then ease off the accelerator to maintain speed, the revs drop down a bit on their own and the car becomes a little bit rough if you go back on the accelerator and takes longer to accelerate like its misfiring a bit.
However, if you let it speed up a bit it clears up and really moves.
Again, if you accelerate from a stand still it goes no problem if you've got your foot down a bit. Its just when your going slowly it does this ?
the car was running like utter crap until a few weeks ago when i fitted a new ignition coil, dizzy cap and rotor, i also adjusted the timing to 6 degrees as it was set at 4 for some reason. Its also had a new TPS, thats set at .54, plugs and leads were new last year.

Re: hesitation / revs drop away on their own ?
I had the car out again yesterday it seems to be worse now when going slowly. its still great when you put your foot down a bit and it clears though.
Does anyone think the the TPS might need adjusting again as it only does it when going really slow, ive got a new IAC valve but havnt fitted it yet as i could get a wrench or anything around the old one to get it off, looks like the throttle body has to come off first ?
the RPMs sound quite low too when your stood still in drive or reverse but fine when in park.

Hi mate,
well i re-checked my TPS out of curiosity and it had somehow moved its self to .83 ! so i moved it back down to .54, reset the ECU, then took it out and it felt pretty much the same, i drove down to my girlfriends which is about 10 minutes down the road, turned the car off while i picked some stuff up, then when i got back in the car to go home it was running better !
so i think the ECU had relearned something on the first outing, then the next time i started the car it had sorted it out.
its still got that little hesistation when you first put your foot down a bit, but if it stays like this that will do me as its hardly noticeable now.
