Re: what other cars use the same iac?
IAC plays no part in startup ; only the engine idle after starting
More investigation needed .
Have you pulled the engine codes to see if anything is showing?
Do you have good fuel pressure?
Are injectors leaking when hot?
Lots of possible things......

i have to hold it to floor to get it to start. i unplugged iac while it was running and it made no difference at all.

iac plays a major part in start up it opens to allow for air to enter to let the engine rev to life .
then it slowely brings it down to idle if you unplug an iac , yes the engine may start but only because it returns to the startup position when the car is turned off.
if you jumper a and b on the aldl connector it fully closes then unplug it and try and start the car lol you will have the problem the OP is talking about
tpi cars can use the TBI iac its not a perfect match up but works ie they are differant part numbers but ive been useing a tbi one on mine for years tbi one was $24 tpi one was $70 a few years back hence i used the tbi one
i have not seen anyother iacs that will work unless you few like swaping a 92-93 lt1 throttle body but you also have to cut an splice connections

Re: what other cars use the same iac?
the clear flood mood almost never works for one reason or another as i can always start the these cars with a foot to the floor
i honestly have never seen a these cars clear flood mood work tbi and 2 tpi computers in my car its never worked never worked in 3 freinds cars "ie there still is an injector pluse" when your supposed to be in clear flood mode
now my lt1 car will not start with foot to the floor no injector pulse when foots to the floor
