i had the same problem when i had the replacement airco fuel pump in it, havent reinstalled it since replacing the pump with a walbro

Whats weird about a metal seat having another metal part making a noise when they smack each other ??
Thats how it works, fuel psi gets high, it opens, the PSI gets low, it'll close (making a tapping noise). Some springs are a lil stronger than others and make a louder tap whan they close.
Valves don't make the noise because they have a oil filled shock (lifter) to help dampen the hit.. the FPR doesn't

I did forget about the pulsator thats in the tank. That is supposed to help soften the pulsing of the regulator. If it fails or is removed, the reg could get louder.
