350 block questions.

i have a 89 iroc z with a cracked block. i have a 350 block sitting in my garage how can i tell if this block will work. i have completely rebuilt heads. im not sure of the casting numbers off the block right now i will check when i get home. any help is greatly appreciated as i am completely new to the tpi system but i am pretty familiar with the 350 as i completely rebuilt the vortec in my tahoe.

Re: 350 block questions.

To swap everything from the current 350 you would need a roller cam block. Not sure about casting numbers but you can search around for images of roller cam blocks and you can compare it to what you have.

If the other block you have is not a roller block you could still use it but you would have to purchase an after market flat tappet cam or use retro fit lifters for use on a roller cam.

Your current heads would bolt to any block so that means your intake setup would as well.

These are some pics of a roller block. If it looks like this than you can swap everything including the cam from your current block.

Also this page may help as it lists casting #s to find out what the block is from

Hope that helps.
