egr problem
egr problem
when i push on the egr or apply vacuum i can see the diaphram move, so i know the egr is open. but when i do this the car runs the same, i thought it was suppost to idle different?
what could be the problem?

If you can compress it upward and put finger over the hole where the vac hose connects, and it doesnt move back down, its good.
If it slides right back down w/finger over hole then diaphraim is shot.
Vac leak somewhere or bad solenoid could also be culprit. Check the hard plastic hoses for air leaks, they tend to break easy.
I hate EGRs, can wait to ditch mine. Got to be 25 YO in NJ to eliminate emissions.

it will run just awful tho. u may have plugged up ports in the intake. thats what egr does. forms a coat of carbon in everything and gums stuff up.i clean mine yearly since i have the time.
