87 305 TPI sensor question

Hello!

We've just completed a rebuild on a 305 engine for my 87 camaro. The engine's in, most of the (seemingly random) wiring is hooked up, but we have one sensor to connect and a couple of wires with plugs on left over.

Here's the sensor:

Any ideas what it could be?!

We were thinking maybe an autobox flasher thing? But can't see where it'd go in the bellhousing. Of course, we could be totally wrong.

Thanks very much! Having ignored the sensor, we managed to get it running and idling nicely
