Tpi air lid

Not real sure where to put this, but I have a question about the tpi air lid. Is it the same part as the 2.8 mpfi lid? I'm swapping a 5.3 into a former 2.8 car, and I'm thinking of cutting it open and making it a little bigger, like 1badz28's, but I wasn't sure if the 5.0/5.7 version might be a little bigger to start with. Any one know for sure?

Re: Tpi air lid

Just a quick not on the air lid. I did the high flow modification as detailed by 1bad. That coupled with ram air, which he has also done a thread on, made a real improvement. The difference is most noticeable at speed where the positive pressure from the ram air increases and where my max effort TPI wants more air.

I have just purchased an inlet air temp sensor and connector and I am installing it in the air lid like on the V6 unit. Since I run my engine cooler and have open hood lovers my plenum temp isn't as affected by underhood temps as it is on the stock engine. By using an actual inlet air temp sensor and programming the air temp correction table around it, I hope to achieve better performance all around. This mod has also been detailed on this forum.

I'm doing surgery on mine (high flow mod), but it may be a little while. I dont know how thats even enough air for the 2.8 that was in it. I'm going to run the 5 wire MAF with the IAT built into it though.
