1985 Camaro z28 305 V8 TPI

Heyyy,

I have 1985 Camaro z28 TPI 305 V8.

I have multiple problems:

1. the fuel tank builds extreme pressure (enough to shoot fuel from the tank when the gas cap is opened)

.......Because of the pressure the car idles horribly and when I take the cap off the fuel tank the car dies regardless if I open that little flap at the filler tube........

2. It dies randomly (Mostly on warm/hot days over 70 degrees outside)

3. I cannot find a charcoal canister for my car: the ones ordered from auto parts stores don't hook up with my car BUT I have gotten charcoal/ vapor canisters from junkyards out of the exact same car as mine: not sure why they aren't interchangeable. any suggestions?

I've replaced most sensors but am open to suggestions.

A vented cap does not vent to atmosphere but is like the vent valve a one way check valve allowing air to be drawn into the tank. Look at rockauto.com for pictures of your ccp if all else fails swap to a different thirdgen ccp canister and change the solenoid connecter if you need to. You might need to use winaldl to see the operation of the solonoid most good solonoids will ohm at 25 ohms. The 870 ecm you have is not known for being a very good ecm if the solonid driver is bad you might consider going with the 1227165 ecm.

Keep in mind that a 165 ECM swap requires a harness swap, and an additional MAF relay. You'll also need to enlarge the kick panel opening that the harness bulk connector passes through in order to fit the bulk connector on the new harness.

But it's well worth the swap if you ever intend to modify the motor, especially if you intend to replace the 305.
