removing smog pump and egr
If I remove the smog pump and egr on a stock 5.7 tpi 1988 camaro will it create any problems and what would be the benefit?

you are gonna need a custom chip to correct it. You are going to get a code 32 for egr and removing the smog pump will throw off the o2 a little bit.

Its not worth pulling your air pump for minimal unnoticeable gain. But yes you may get a malf 32 and when the air pump is commanded on the o2 mv adjusts so it should be programed out.
