intermittant code 44
my 86 has developed a intermittent SES light. and when codes are read it only shows code 44 .in normal daily driving the SES light will go on and off at random.it also has a" hunting for a idle speed in gear" issue. lately, I repaired a vac leak at the EGR control solenoid that got rid of the code 32 and 33 problem.and helped with the idle in gear issue, as in. it varys in rpm only a few hundred rpm now, instead of a few 1000s. but now it shows a intermittant code 44. MPGs are great at 23 on the freeway, 18 in town .power is good .inspection for vac leaks hasn't turned up any more

any TPI guys have any ideas?? id sure love to hear them

Re: intermittant code 44
Code 44- This code will be set whenever the ecm perceives a lean exhaust condition. The main causes for this is a grounded O2 sensor, low fuel pressure, restricted injectors, contaminated fuel, exhaust leaks or bad air switching valve. The condition met to set the code is a low O2output voltage (less than 0.2V)around a minute with the ecm is closed loop.
