testing the MAF wiring

im chasing MAF failures at the moment.and I have a question my FSM don't seem to answer.there are 5 wires in the MAF plug,2 are grounds, 1 is 12V, 1 is burnoff.and then the green one, which is the signal to the ECM. can I test this wire with the ECM hooked up? if so what are the values I should get? I get a almost immediate code34 and stumble/no idle.chamging MAFs in the auto zone parking lot!!
