Emissions 305 tpi
so I went to go get my e-test today and the manager at the stupid emissions place failed my car because he told me that my car needed two cats from what the emissions sticker says on my radiator core support. Correct me if im wrong but only 90 and up F body's had dual cats on them? Ive got a 85 T/A 305 TPI. ORC/OC is under the catalyst area on the sticker. The only thing I can find on it is Three-Way + Air (3-Way Plus Oxidation). Also my car ran rich I think because it has newer bosch 3 19lbs injectors in it. any ideas on how I can get it threw would be appreciated

Pretty sure the np10 option came out in 89. I actually failed for adding that option to my 91 when I had TBI. I swear emissions is a joke.

You definitely had one cat from the factory.
Did you have him show you where it says that?
Maybe you have a sticker from a later car?

It says ORC/OC, the stupid guy is saying that means two cats... He is wrong, the dual cat cars say under catalyst twc+oc/02s.

Re: Emissions 305 tpi
So I decided to take another try at getting an e-test done today. This time I went to another location and put 3 bottles of heat in the tank with a 1/4 left in it. This time the car passed with almost flying colors, the hc's were 3.9 with a limit of 2.5 (first time). Today they were 1.99 out of 2.5, the n0x temp went up to 2.4 out of 4.5. It was still in range and the car passed! So my point is heat works to lower your hc's but I think that if you use too much it will raise your n0x's (exhaust temp) too high.

I just use a bottle of cataclean. Go to any exhaust shop and ask for a cat test, it's free and they will show you what the pressure is. My exhaust shop said if it's at 6lbs it's bad and needs to be replaced. Mine was at 5 lbs and in good shape. Just my .02
