Advice on Turbo/TPI build
Advice on Turbo/TPI build
Greetings. I am putting together a TPI build for my 82 Corvette project and I was hoping I could get some advice from those who have been there/done that on selecting some components for the build.
This is a complete frame off resto mod build. It sat for quite a few years and I am back to work on it full steam now. I have a thread over on the Corvette forum on the whole build.
I had purchased a Jasper Performance engine for the car years back, but I am now changing plans so it is totally broken down and I need to select components for the rebuild. I am way invested in a fully chromed TPI and Serpentine setup for the engine, so I don't want to go LS. Plus I just love the look of the TPI setup, best looking engine ever in my opinion.
Here's some background on the parts I have on hand and need/plan to use. The specs on the engine and heads as current are in images attached.
Twin eBay T28 60mm turbos (rear mount STS style setup)
3:55 rear end, T56 Transmission
Block is already .040 over, 4 bolt main
TPI, Large Runner, Standard Throttle Body.. should I go 52 or 58mm?
Megasquirt II v3 for ECM
I know that I definitely need to go forged rotating assembly, any point in going 383 with the TPI or is that unnecessary. I just want to build a super fun pin you in the seat street motor that is reliable for an hour or two trip to a car show, but still pretty nasty when I want it to be.. that's the balance. I don't want to spend any more than I have to in order to achieve this, but I don't want to make penny wise / pound foolish decisions either. What would you recommend?
