Location of oil pressure sender, 5.0 TPI
Hello boys n' gals!
My oil pressure gauge is telling me that the pressure is somewhere around 60 psi when idle and a bit more when rpm rises. So I'd like to check if the sending unit is bad but I can't seem to find it. I have a '91 firebird 5.0 TPI and when I jacked it up I found a sensor above oil filter but that I believe is just the sensor not the sending unit? So, where is the sending unit? Or does 90-92 model have sensor and sending unit altogether in one unit?
Thanks for any help.

the one by the oil filter is a combo unit for that year, it should be a 3 wire sensor
if not check by the distributor for a bell shaped sensor, single wire

Re: Location of oil pressure sender, 5.0 TPI
Thanks for the info. Another question, I have mechanical oil pressure test gauge which I'd like to use to chech if the sending unit is bad or if I have an actual high pressure problem. And if sensor above the oil filter is a combo unit is there any other spot I could attach mechanical oil gauge to? Or do I have to remove the combo unit and replace it with mechanical gauge to do the check-test?
Thanks.
Thanks.
