Re: edelbrock intake manifold and runners questions

That looks to be a vortec head style manifold. The port closest to the center of the manifold is for the egr. The pipe covered in heat wrap is the pipe that goes from it to the exhaust manifold/header.

The port closest to the distributor I believe is for coolant, I very well could be wrong. I think it's a corvette used port.

I don't know what the extra pipe is for. Best guess is its the one that is supposed to go into the exhaust manifold itself.

The runner with the hole is for your egr to function. The other one is blocked off because its a set for the later tpi without a cold start injector.

That's what I thought but I try not to put misinformation out there.

If you are going to retain your egr using vortec heads you will need to use that exhaust manifold to egr port. If not then block it off but the egr will need to be deleted in the computer.

The coolant port you can block it off or use it to bleed air out of your coolant system.

There is no exhaust cross over on vortec and aluminum heads. The exhaust has to come from somewhere, therefore the exhaust manifold is elected.

Re: edelbrock intake manifold and runners questions

ok, i just figured out what happened. this was originally supposed to be installed with vortec heads that my uncle had previously bought (car used to be my uncles) and it didnt come with any paperwork or anything. so i took off the stock manifold for no reason cause this obviously doesnt fit stock heads...

so, since ive got the stock one off, what kind of performance baseplate can i buy to fit the stock heads? these?

That will fit stock heads. All the same ports the vortec plate has will be there on this plate too. You can simply block off that egr port and use the normal fbody egr passages.
