FIRST intake LT1 build
FIRST intake LT1 build
I became a member of this forum today and figured I would post my build to see if there was any interest. My car is a 92 LT1 corvette with an automatic trans. Last winter I pulled the motor and did the following work:
Freshened up the lower end (rings, bearings, gaskets, oil pump )
Installed AFR 195 street port LT1 heads and the stock LT1 intake/Tb
Lingenfelter 219/219 cam with comp 1:6:1 roller rockers
Updated the timming cover and installed a pin drive Dynaspark distributor Bailey engineering box with 8 LS1 coils
Cloyes roller timming chain
Electric water pump Exotic Muscle LT ceramic coated headers/OBX exhaust
Edge 2800 stall converter Mail order tune
My next step this winter is to install my recently purchased Dana 44 with 3:33 gears a Trans Go shift kit and a FIRST intake manifold I have laying around from a previous project. This car will be used as a daily driver and will see very little if any track time. Im just looking for a tourqe laden fun to drive car. I like the look of TPI and think the FIRST will work well with my combination. I posted on this forum because there seem to be more people using the FIRST manifolds here than on the corvette forums. Has anyone here used a FIRST on a LT! car?

Re: FIRST intake LT1 build
Are you planning on modifying the FIRST to work with a GEN 2? Or was there a FIRST that was made for LT1's that I'm not aware of? A normal FIRSt won't bolt on to start. Not to mention the coolant issues, which probably consists of blocking the intake ports off. I know there was a SuperRam base for LT1s but I've never heard of a FIRST for one.
Re: FIRST intake LT1 build
I will be drilling new holes in the base for the LT1. The coolant issues should be easy because the LT1 is a dry intake just have to block off some holes. It will look kinda funny but I think it should work ok.

I don't think I would do it, I really like the LT1 manifold even in stock trim, but I am interested in your results. Since an aftermarket headed Gen 2 is so similar to a aftermarket headed Gen 1 I'm guessing any regular FIRST build will be similar to what you should expect.
