Sputtering and Stalling
So I know I have not been on here as much as I should but just getting home from my deployment I have been very busy. Hope y'all can understand! Anyway recently my car has been having an issue accelerating. Once it warms up to 220 it sputters when I give it gas. It acts as if it wants to take off and go but it just keeps bogging down. I thought at first it may have been the TPS so I unplugged it and drove around for a little and I still acted up afterwards. I'm lost as to what it may be. I don't want to take it to the mechanic just yet. Anyone have this issue? Akron, Ohio area.
Re: Sputtering and Stalling
Welcome home.
I'm guessing there's a chance that the vehicle hasn't been driven in a while. Fuel that is more than 60 days old starts to lose volatility and can settle/stratify. If that's the case, fill the tank just this once with the lowest octane fuel you can find at a reputable station. Lower octane means higher volatility, and this can help re-suspend anything which might have settled. I do this every spring after taking cars out of storage without problems.
You can also remove the pilot vacuum line from the FPR and cap/plug it. This should result in higher standing fuel pressure to help offset any injector streaming or tip fouling, and deliver a bit more fuel flow.
Whether or not either of those help the situation, please report back.

Re: Sputtering and Stalling
I'm going to look at it today. It was driving fine all last night. It's kind of an odd situation. Thanks for the advice. I'll let you know what I find asap.
Re: Sputtering and Stalling
i just went through a similar thing. i put a gauge on the fuel rail and pressure was way low. eventually the folks on the board here helped me determine i should drop the tank. i replaced the fuel pump, sender, filter, pulsator, sock and all that fun stuff. pressure jumped back up whree it should be and its running great now.
my symptoms were that it would bog down, when i was trying to rev, if i punched the pedal down the floor then it would backfire a few times then as rpms struggled over like 1500, it would rev up fine. i had to drive around with it in 2nd gear keeping the rpms up like 2500 or higher in a 25 mph zone

Okay so I took my car to the shop after replacing the fuel filter because it still ran like ****. Turns out it was the Mass air flow sensor. Everything runs well now

Re: Sputtering and Stalling
Not only was the MAF bad but the TPS was bad as well. I had no check engine light and that to me was strange. The car is out away for the winter now and I just started a new job so all money is going into engine work. Super charging it and what not. Will keep updating on progress
