General TPI queations
I bought a TPI unit from a guy last March. It camr complete save for the wiring harness.
Tonight I set up shop and began taking the unit apart.
A few questions, first can you ID the following:
The sensors on the throtle body
The sensor on the bottom of the plenum on the back divers side?
What are the theo vaccum lines for on the bottom of the plenum across from above sensor asked about above?
other than the 4 bolts on the tops of the fuel rails and the one in the front of the fuel rails, what keeps the fuel lines and injectors on?
Also whats the little ufo looking disk in the center under the plenum? Im pretty sure its the EGR, but figured I'd ask to be sure.
And just what does it do? it doesnt appear to have and purpose.
(exhaust gas recirculation? it doesnt look like its attached to any exhaust ports).

-throttle position sensor

-manifold air temp sensor - this one can be placed somewhere else so the computer does not get an incoming air temp of 200 all the time

- sounds like the fuel pressure regulater. Does it have fuel lines to it?

No, its not the FPR, that much I know. For one it does not have any fuel lines attached to it. All it has is one vacuum line and one wire coming out of it. It looks just like the EGR on my TBI, so that what I assume it is.
Oh yes anyone know a good way to clean and polish the aluminum of these things? any particular products?

Yes, that is indeed the EGR valve. There are "heat risers" in the heads that connect to the center two cylinders on each side of the engine, these allow exhaust gasses to be directed to the intake via the EGR valve.
the vacuum line should go to a solenoid on the back, passenger side of the lower intake. (also, where the coil mounts.)
The wire is for the EGR diagnostic circuit. Grounds the switch when it gets hot.
