Hello All, I have recently obtained a 1989 GTA with a 350 and tpis mini ram intake manifold. My question is How do you bypass the Heater Core/Hoses. There is a fitting in front of the TPIS intake manifold, can i plug this ?

Why would you bypass the heater core? It saves you nothing and you just might want it even if just to defog the windshield.

Unless you are completely going to remove the entire HVAC box and blower assembly its not worth it at all to remove it. Gains you nothing.

Re: How do you bypass the heater core?
I dont have any heater hose or the heater valve assembly, so I will need to bypass it.

Well, you need SOME hose to bypass it. So why not just buy the hose you need to connect it up. You don't need a coolant bypass valve, I haven't run one ever on my GTA. My WP connects directly to the core with my LT1 swap.

Follow the heater core lines to the water pump assembly.

I dont have any heater lines. Only hose i have is the upper and lower rad hose. I need to figure out what to do about the coolant fitting in front of the TPIS intake manifold.

Here is the stock coolant diagrams. Pretty easy to see what you need to do.

Thanks for the diagram, but it does not show the manifold coolant fitting.

Re: How do you bypass the heater core?
Yes, you can remove that fitting and put in a plug. (A pre-vortec SBC has an internal water bypass, so coolant will still circulate before the thermostat opens.)

Or... you can get a length of heater hose, and connect that fitting to the return fitting on the radiator.
