So I have a iroc z28 1989, and I was recently in a car crash and now have settlement money and would like to turn my camaro into a monster! But I don't really know to much about swapping a engine. Can anyone help with how I should go about it ??? And what would I need and how much it would cost ?

Easiest is getting a complete engine/trans/computer and wiring harness out of a wrecked 98-02 Camaro. Mild modifications such as cam, headers and tune and you will be happy.

Okay i updated my profile and added everything in. Sorry haha i am new to this website. I am 18 and i got the car from my grand father. It's a 1989 iroc z28, it has the stock 305 engine with automatic 4 speed. It has 53k miles on it and needs minor work on the body but i am most interested in getting the car up to standards speed wise and then after that i will do all the cosmetics. I just have been reading all of the things on the site and links that you guys sent. And I want that ls1 engine in this car.

 

I retract my earlier advice. Keep your Grandfather's car stock. At 53k it probably wouldn't take much of your $15k to get it back to perfect condition.


LS1 in a car that predates modern safety equipment could be hazardous to your health.

 

For $10k you can go buy a running driving finished monster of a 3rd Gen that someone else has already dumped $30k+ into...... This is from the screaming voice of experience ......
