Restoration done now big fuel leak at regulator return line
I have searched the forum and not found anything on this yet. Working on a whole car ground up restoration on this 87 IROC convertible. Its 305 with 5 speed although I really don't see that matters for this question.
First time lighting up the new motor. Fuel SPRAYS at huge volume out of the pressure regulator return line fitting. So I take the whole thing apart and it was in fact a bit loose at that fitting. Problem is.... the hard line that enters into the pressure regulator itself has about a 3/8 inch neck to it. It inserts quite a ways into the front of the regulator. The clip that is supposed to hold that line in does not also insert down in there to hold it in place at all. From what I can see, the only way to hold that line firm into the neck of the pressure regulator is to tighten the clip on fuel rail that secures the return line. I did that. It helped but I am still getting a pretty serious leak. Anybody know what I'm dong wrong?

SOLVED it myself. I did use a new O-ring. It was the correct inside diameter but way to small on the outside diameter. In other words it was too weenie even tho it fit. Put the correct O-ring in there and it does not leak now. Lesson Learned
