FAST EFI vs Gauges

As a winter project I'm considering installing a FAST bank-to-bank EFI controller I have laying around, complete with TPI harness, into my modified 383 92 TPI Formula. Anyone have experience with doing this? My tuner tells me it's much easier to tune than the OEM system and I'm probably losing some HP without it. Cam is an XFI280H; it runs pretty well but I do feel there's more in it than 295 RWHP.

What are the potential pitfalls? Can I simply separate all the wires off the ECM and still expect all the gauges to work?
