What is my engine suppose to idle at?

I think my engine is bogging out because it idles to low! I is idling at 5...wht is it suppose to idle at? Any help would help thanks.

Engine: LB9 305 TPI
Transmission: Borg Warner 5 speed
It also depends on your transmission too. Do you have a manual or automatic? For a manual try 500 RPM in drive. For a manual try 750 in neutral. Before you adjust the set-screw on the Throttle body, see if your TPS sensor is out of adjustment.

The TPI instructions from FIS says 450rpm for 283-305.
400rpm for 327-400.
Above is for automatics when in drive.

For a manual car, 500rpm in neutral.
