Unusually high oil pressure
My oil pressure gauge on my 91 GTA is right to the max and maybe a little more. Im not sure if the gauge is broken....if a sensor is to blame or if its something more serious.. any help would be aprreciated. I just bought this car and it was sitting at a dealership for at least 5 months.

Similar problem in this thread. I just glanced through it quick, but it sounds like a wire might be disconnected from the sensor.

could be a bad sensor too. my sensor went and said i had no oil pressure.....replaced it with a brand new napa sensor and it showed it pinned all the time. replaced again and it was fine.

Re: Unusually high oil pressure
Anytime there's a concern about oil pressure, it's best to verify it with a mechanical gauge. The electric senders aren't that trustworthy, they're just useful for drawing your attention to a possible issue. If you're worried, hook up a mechanical gauge to get a real reading.
edit: although in this case, if the needle is fully pegged then it's most likely an open circuit. The replacement sender you bought will probably fix it.
It's good that you bought an ACDelco. I went through 4 knockoff senders (I think they were BWD brand) on a V6 which kept being replaced under the lifetime warranty - all of them were unacceptably inaccurate at the lower end of the scale. The original GM and 2 Delco senders I've used were all much more accurate in comparison to a mechanical gauge.
