Be a little more specific on what the problem is. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on this board that can help get your car running again.

MOre info

Last fall I noticed my FPR was leaking, I replaced with a ACdelco, leak stopped but car ran like crap, no pwer, hesitation. Also noticed that after car is shut off the fuel pressure drops to 0 like a rock

replaced FPR with adjustable one, got pressure at 45 with vaccuum off, runs at 42 psi now with vaccuum on. Pressure still drops to 0 after carf is off, if i piinch return liine it holds pressure, not sure if I am looking at leaky injectors or chcek valve/pump issue

the injectors were replaced 2 years ago with Bosch III, notg from southbay, learned my lesson there as had a couple bad injectors that had to be exchanged, had a hydro lock thats how bad one leaked

TPS and IAC have been replaced and set, cant get my car to connect to the OBDI cable i got from reddevil

had a code 34 till i set fuel pressure where it is now, no more code 34, had followed troubleshooting tree and was never ever able to get rid, but gone now

so car starts, idle is all over, seems like it wants to stall, cant get it out of garage to road test

i did check vaccuum, i cant remember what it was at, can check again, but it was holding good

car is a 88 GTA trans am, 305 5 speed

If you pinch the return line and the fuel pressure holds, it most likely means your fuel pump (or pulsator) is leaking. Fuel injectors are before the return and are holding pressure when return pinched so probably not leaking. The problem with the cable connecting is typical of the 165 ECM, you might need to switch a 10K resistor into the circuit (not sure if the Red Devil cable has it built in or not) to start communications. How did you check vacuum? Gauge will not necessarily tell you if you have a leak, you need to visually inspect and maybe spray carb cleaner around connectors and gaskets to see if idle changes, indicating a leak. Do a search on these subjects and you will get a load of information on these forums. GL!

Did the idle issues all start after you changed the FPR? Maybe there is a vacuum leak at the plenum somewhere. Have you checked all the rubber hoses surrounding the plenum? maybe one is cracked slightly.

Also, have you messed with the distributor at all? Id say try and check the timing but if your idle is all over the place then you wont be able too.

the cable does have a jumper tried with it on and off, no connection, will try again, just need to find some time

as for the vacuum, I just tested the using a gauge to see where it was at, will get some carb cleaner and spray

all vacuum lines, rubber hoses all replaced

I have not played with the timing, had it set 2 years ago, will need to check again
