Oil Sending unit?

I am in the finishing stages of a motor install on my Z28. Where does the oil sending unit go? I can not thread it into the holes above the oil filter area and that is where i took it from the old motor? the new engine is a mid 90's block? Any help would be GREATLY appriciated.

The oil sending unit on late model blocks is on top of the engine, next to the distributor. Most have a small brass fitting to allow more than one sensor to connect to the port.... One for oil pressure gauge and one for oil pressure switch.
