Porting, possible tuning?

Morning everyone

I have been trying to search but havent had much success. I was getting ready to pull my intake to port that, the runners, and the plenum. I could probably do it myself, but I live next to a shop and the owner said hed give me a deal.

Anyway, my question is will I need to mess with my tune or timing once they are opened up? I tend to think that I should have to, but i dont ever see anyone identifying a need in the porting discussions.

Thanks in advance

Re: Porting, possible tuning?

Being a MAF car it can adapt to closed loop changes automatically. The worry is increasing too much flow when open loop happens you'll run lean. But most of the time it actually leans out an overly rich tune.

You will see power gains from a tune afterward as you always would from one.

I ALWAYS suggest a tune. Why try to optimize power while at the same time not optimize the modification for power?!

That makes perfect sense. My car does run rich so it could help to lean it out.

I was curious more or less as to whether I would need a tune just to get it up and running again. Looks like I will still be able to drive her after so I will find a shop to have it tuned after!

Thank!
