Anyone Pushing 350-450HP On Thirdgen TPI
Anyone Pushing 350-450HP On Thirdgen TPI
oh man, im still stuck on what kind of intake to put on my 383 that i want around 400hp on used for mostly street racing and daily driving. first i thought mini ram, but it seems like thats too much tourque for a daily driver, than i thought lt1, i still might go that route, but i love the look of polished runners and the lt1 doesnt have tuned runners ( i dont think.. ) if you guys have used thirdgen tpi for big numbrers, can you guys tell me your power and your engine combo?

Axle/Gears: stock... whatever that means :)
I would go with either the Superram or Minram... depending on the setup.
by setup you mean engine combo? i dont have NOTHING picked out 100% yet, all i know is that it will be a 383 on nos. compression will be 10.X:1 and the heads will most likely be AFR 190/95's. but with the mini ram i was doing some reading and it seems like it makes so much high end tourque i'll need to rev to like 6 grand to maximise my power. and with all that tourque, will i be able keep the car on the road. i honestly cant stand the look of the superram and having a real flashy car, thats just not going to happen
would i best just get the intake and runners and all that or should i get the comp and wire harness as well? i just want to go fast and have alot of stoplight race wins..heh

The Mini ram and LT1 intake all almost the same thing, they both have very short runners that trade tourque in the middle rpm's for more HP in the higher rpm range, now if your looking for more tourque a long runner intake will do that for you but at the cost of higher rpm HP. Its like this short runners will give you a long flat tourque curve through out the rpm range wile a long runner intake will climb to a peak in the middle rpm range then drop off after that. You might wana get some books on this so you can learn a litter more on what to do for your engine, one of the best books I bought was (don't laugh) 5.0L Ford Dyno Test, it has dyno runs of all sizes of engines not just 5.0L's and shows how different runner lengths affect HP and tourque.

U can have nice #'s with TPI, TQ especially. TPI is just what u want to stay with though, it looks good and is really good for street races.
yeah, tpi for sure. if the lt1 and mini ram are sooo close in #'s i might as go with the LT1. can i get the look of large tube runners on an lt1, i havent seen any. maybe i just dont know what im talking about yet. them curved things that go from the mouth of the intake down to the bottom. not to sound too childish but i seen some polished all up in a book and that would suit the car so nice
