Need help with IAC removal 88 GTA 5.7.l
So I am going to remove the IAC to make sure the pin is working correctly. I cannot see how to get a wrench or socket in there to remove it. I removed all the air intake and hoses our the way and still can't get a tool in there to remove it. Sockets are to thick cause there is almost no space at the top of the IAC and the plenum itself. I tried doing a search but no go. Can anyone help?
P.S. I am trying to eliminate all I can that could be causing my car to almost stall at stops and when taking off but only when car is warmed up from a 30 minute or so drive. Runs perfect when on road. No codes. TPS, fuel pressure, and fuel pressure regulator, injectors all 16.5, ALL OK. Again, no codes. Thank you

I had no problem getting to mine with a large socket. There seems to be minimum space between the IAC and the bottom of the TB. What you can do is get the socket that fits the IAC and grind a section of the socket that's interfering with the TB. Slip it on and unscrew it.

Re: Need help with IAC removal 88 GTA 5.7.l
I remove the 4 long bolts on the front of throttle body, unhook the cable wires for the throttle and shifter, and then remove the throttle body. Then use an adjustable wrench to remove/re-tighten the IAC valve. I find it much easier to remove the IAC when the throttle body is out of the car.
Granted, this is much simpler if you've done the TB coolant bypass mod. After all is finished and the IAC is in place, put the 4 bolts back on, hook up the throttle wire and shifter wire. Away you go.
