Engine block numbers



I was told I would find identifying numbers on this tab. I don't see any numbers, is this the right location?

Looks like a target master engine, go bye the casting number on the block behind the drivers side cylinder head.

It looks like it's 140S379. What's a target master engine?

14016379 maybe 67-80 350 left hand side dipstick. A target master was a gm replacement engine. The suffix code would be missing not assigned to a vehicle vin number.

Thank you. I did a little more digging and found you were right about the number. I also found another link that explains the numbers. Looks like it is a 77-79 motor with either 2 or 4 bolt mains. All the suspension in the car

is from a camaro so I'm guessing the entire drivetrain was sourced from a camaro of those years.
