10K resistor - change the driving characteristics of the car
10K resistor - change the driving characteristics of the car
Hey - quick question - when I put the car into ALDL mode (10K resister) , it increases the idle - significantly - 1200 rpm and 700 in drive. Is there a good reason that it does this? if not, does anyone know how to fix it?

Remove the 10k resistor. It tells the ecm your in field service mode and to symtart data flow. Timing locks and rpm will raise as per programming .

Right - when I remove it, it stops sending data. Is there a trick to starting the data flow and keeping it going after the resister is removed? (1988 Formula 5.7 TPI)

Welcome to the 165 ecm

I don't think it's field service mode because the light doesn't flash while the engine is running and I'm data logging. It should flash to indicate rich/lean in field service mode, right?
