L98 swap on 305 tbi truck

I know what you are going to say already, 305 is not worth the effort! True, but I just wanna have fun. I have a curious situation and a possible remedy. I would hate to waste the gaskets even in the name of science which is why I ask such a terrible yet intriguing question. I have a blown up l98 from my old firebird that im parting out whats left of that runs off map sensor. The ecm for the firebird is the 01227730 and the pcm on the truck is 16196395 (tbi with 4l60e trans) and the dilemma is that if i replace the pcm I will have to swap the trans with a 700r4 which involves rebuilding it pretty much(4wd truck) The possible solution is that between the 2 harnesses and pcm/ecm there are 2 key difference. No mat sensor on the 395 and then the obvious 8 injectors vs 2. The problem isnt in the mat sensor, if it doesnt come with one then it will obviously run without it. Just leave it unplugged.. but the injectors. Further inspection reveals that the injectors run off 2 banks on the 730 just like the 395 (1357 and 2468) so in theory splicing the connectors into the tbi harness would be elementry at its worst

Re: L98 swap on 305 tbi truck

The question is the injector pulse width.. will the ecm lean out the 8 injectors on its own or can it even opetate them at that frequency?

I and a bunch of other people have already done this

Put the motor in, then do the solder job on the ECM so itll control the 8 injectors correctly and youll be good.
