Procedure for changing fuel injectors ?

I looked all over the tech article section and didn't see a definitive recap on how to change injectors. I realize it's not rocket science but there has to be some 'look out for's' and 'watch for's' in doing this.

Anyone have an article on how to do this - I know basically what do to but are there tricks about the retainers, etc. that I should know about?

Thanks...........

Basically take everything off in order: air intake, throttle cables, throttle body, plenum, runners, fuel rails. There are some hidden bolts connecting the bottom of the runners to the base, so be wary of them. To remove the fuel rail just take off the four bolts from the elevated parts of the base. Use two open end wrenches to disconnect the fuel lines from the other fuel lines underneath the thermostat housing. Now you can yank the fuel lines out with the injectors attached. Carefully pop those injectors out of the intake manifold, they may be very snug. I normally use the end of a long ratched against the base to pry the rail upward and force them out. To remove the injectors there is a little 'C' shaped retainer holding them to the rail. You'll see that you need the top and bottom part of the 'C' to face perpendicular to the rail to remove the injector, so just flip it that way. That's about all I remember. You can disable the fuel pump and run the car until the lines are dry if you don't want to spill some fuel, but the little amount of gasoline that pours out was always easily absorbed with a towel that I then used the clean off the rails. Good luck.

I just changed mine a couple of weeks ago. You can leave the throttle body and cables attached to the plenum when you remove it, and just move it off to the side (drivers). I removed the passenger side runner, but only loosened the driver side enough to get the fuel rails out. Good luck!
