going to rebuild few questions/ (powerhouse)
hi how is everyone.. i am going to have my motor rebuilt this winter. 350 tpi 5.7.. i have the usual bolt ons that are listed in my sig.. my question is i need some help picking out a cam.. i know u have to be picky when choosing a cam so if someone could give me some numbers and what the pros are for changing my cam that would be great. i dont want nothing way radical because i dont wana change my converter yet so but i want something that is pretty lumpy so when i pull up people know it know what i mean!! also i dotn really have the money to get the equipment to burn my own chip so what should i do?? and should i change my injectors with the mods i have? i plan on getting a bigger tb.. im not going to go bigger with the motor going to keep it a 350. i think 12's are insight since i ran a 13.2 at 106 mph and that is with 98,000 on the motor..i plan i getting the rebuild kit through power house they are out of cali.. any one heard of them? well sorry this is so long thanks for all the help!!!
What heads?
After all thats what you're supposed to be matching your cam to.
There are some general rule of thumb, I'd stick with 112 LSA, 114 is more of a stock lobe seperation trying to widen out the power range which brings overall peak power down a bit. Then lift depends on your springs but in a sense its free money, more the better (to an extent) on stock heads dont go over .570, If you have aftermarket heads they're *USUALLY* good to 520ish if you keep the RPMs reasonable. Then duration, keep both numbers under 220, I'd say since you dont have a stall aim for about 212/218 This will be your "mean business" cam without being stupid about duration
anything lower will be stock, anything higher will be into prom burning/loss of streetability area.
