just ported the intake on my 86 IROC with tpi.... i can start it up... and it idles real high....... then if i drive around the check engine light comes on and gave me a code 42, and 44.... what are these codes and can any1 help me please......

we ported the intake on my friends 88 gta and it ran a little funny , but we solved that with a chip and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

i have a stage 4 chip.... but had and adjustable regulator but took it off.... might have to put it back on....

Sounds like a vacuum leak..you ned to trace it down..vacuum leaks will cause a high idle and will not run right.
Code 42 is usually the EST timing wire and
check to make sure its fully plugged in.Check any wirs that may have been m routed or moved by accident during removal of TPI parts.

code 44 is the oxygen sensors sees a lean condition which is normally from a vacuum leak.

Did you hook all the vacuum lines back up?What about the one that goes on the bottom of the TB?(easiest one missed)

Is your cold start valve seated all the way in?Did it "pop" in place first before istalling the torx bolt?
Did you install the runner to plenum gaskets on wrong?This can happen...

Check all the torx bolts for proper torque and etc.

A adjustable fuel pressure regulator wont fix the problems..unless you had a vacuum leak and bumped the pressure up to band aid it.

You can find vacuum leaks by running the car and using some carb cleaner spray or something like it and shot spray certain areas around the motor and listen to see if the rpms changes for a second or so.
Also a vacuum leak will make a hissing noise of some kind you can hear sometimes.
