Hi all,

I've had a faint fuel smell under the hood for a while as well as a failure to hold fuel pressure. Looks like my regulator needs attention. While pinching off the rubber lines under the hood, I noticed the feed line was wet. I'm going to go ahead and have new feed & return lines made.

Mine runs about 27", making a long bend near the battery. There's a shorter one out there (15"?). It looks like it's more than long enough to work. Is there any reason for such a long fuel line? Maybe for TBI cars? Is it for cooling?

The hoses only need to have enough slack to allow engine movement without stressing the connections.




There was no intent to cool the fuel using rubber hoses. Rubber has terrible thermal transfer properties.

 

Seen a few thirdgens with insanely long hoses. V6 maybe? Substitution for some reason? IDK but see no reason not to go shorter.

Mine is insanely long for sure. I've heard of variations like that on the same model/trim. Parts availability at the time?

"Hey...we have too many of these extra long hoses, use `em up on your shift!"
