350 heads that don't have angled center bolts
350 heads that don't have angled center bolts
Hello there. I am trying to piece together a 350 tpi engine and I'm a bit stuck on the heads.
I need to know which head casting numbers do NOT have the angled center intake bolts so i can bolt the tpi intake on properly.
I have spent hours going through threads here and there's just so much misinformation and most end up with people debating performance that I figured I'd ask MY question very specifically and directly.
I know 624 bolt directly but prone to cracking.
I know 083 bolt directly but hard to find in my area.
I know 441 bolt directly but...not doing that.
I have been told 882 work. Don't know much yet.
I was told 193 work. Got some. Nope, they have the angled center intake bolt holes.
Almost every website that allows me to choose engine recommends 193 heads. What factor am I missing?
Did they make two versions of 193 heads? Ones with angled center bolt holes and ones without? Possibly pre 94 and post 94?
So aside from the question about the 193 heads, what should I consider WITHOUT angled center bolt holes?

083 has the angled center bolts. It isnt a big deal since you can oval the intake mani side
Re: 350 heads that don't have angled center bolts
Okay, thank you for clarification.
That would mean my intake manifold is from a pre-87 305 tpi, it seems. That solves my conundrum.
So to be 100%, in order to use these 193's, either oval out the bores or get an 87+ manifold, correct?
Sounds like a simple problem but it's a franken-engine being built and first experience transferring tpi setup.
Thanks again!

I am not familiar with 193’s but i know some aftermarket manifolds had dual bolt pattern center holes. So it was common for guys to do same on their pre 87 intakes with a dremel or cartridge roll die grinder to open hole angle up to allow aftermarket heads to work

193s are tbi heads , swirl ports , not the worst but its no TPI head.
