305 upgrade cam, heads, base, etc... ???
Ok, 91 305 TPI....
I got some nice parts, was considering doing a 383 upgrade, but kept seeing more $$$ for that...
my 305 has 150k, but in good shape, get new timing chain, etc... This way I can put most of these parts to good use and give my 305 a bit more pep
My mechanic said he would change cam and heads for $550... I got some parts I can sell to pay for that...
Install List:
Cam 260 XFI Comp Cams
Trick Flow 175cc 23 heads
The cam is .5+ lift and the heads can handle .6...
I have 2 intakes... A new Edelbrock TPI (in the box) and a GM one that was ported and extrude honed.
Probably sell the Edelbrock...
AS&M Runners
Ported Plenum
24 lbs injectors should do ?
Timing Chain
New Hydraulic Lifters
1.6 Rockers
Any other parts I should need / replace (water pump was recently done)...
Have EBL P4, so can be tuned...
Any thoughts about this? Do's or Don'ts ??
Thanks,
Rafael

If you are looking for injectors, I saw this today:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...bosch-3-a.html
They're not 24 lbs injectors, but IMO I think 24's are a bit much for a 305.

Ok Orr89RocZ, you aren't getting off that easy 😉
Why the 268 over the 260?

I like more duration. 260 is more stock in duration with a very aggressive lobe. It would also run well but sound very tame imo. The 268 would help pull more power up top and sound abit more like a cam. Just my opinion

I will be the one to say it. You will be disappointed.
The smaller bore of the 305 shrouds the intake valve and limits the airflow. As far as building a SBC, you have a good combo. What you are doing will require a custom PROM to run correctly. More than just a few changes. You will probably need to go through 3 or 4 edits to get it close.
My
because it is a 305 with 150,000 on it is to wait until you can afford the 383.
