TBI and TPI Ignition Control Modules Different?

Is there a difference between the ICM installed on a TPI and TBI engine distributor? I'm trying to track down an intermittent "cut out" problem with my TBI converted to TPI 5.0. I replaced the distributor last summer and I'm sure it doesn't have an ACDelco ICM, so I thought maybe I could pull the ICM out of my old distributor (which was replaced due to major rust/corrosion) and install in my new distributor. RockAuto and Amazon both spec a different ICM for TBI (non-HEI?).
