TPI and TBI Ignition modules the same?
My 89 L98 needs a new ignition module. I have one from a 91 305 TBI motor. Are they the same?
I'm not against buying a new one, but I'm rushing to get the car ready for a big show in 2 weeks and I'm breaking the budget as it is by swapping in the new trans ahead of schedule.
...it would only be in use for a couple of weeks, but I don't want to have a hack job. If it's the same, I'll use it, if it's not, then I'll buy a new one.

I was driving down the road just the other day, and mine died.... does this every hundred thousand miles or so, I'm getting real tired of it, I have to keep opening the hood. It was $16 something for the 7-pin one. I don't think the 8-pin is much different.

You could probably spend $75 if you wanted to.

You'll probably have to spend more than $16, though.
(You may have to enter your zipcode to access those links. Don't worry, they aren't going to come "get" you...)

My 88 LB9 uses the 8 pin module because I have the external coil distrib. I have about 150k on the clock, and I'm still on the original module.
Those modules in the links above are the 8 pin units.
The cheapo house brand is like $26. The Accel units are like what, $56? How much is a Delco from a GM parts house?
I've been warned that the Delco units are the only ones that are long term reliable.
I wish MSD made replacement 7 and 8 pin units, afaik they only make a 4 pin. Bummer.
Here's a link to a 7 pin unit for sale on ebay for cheap.

Somehow the Accel link got into my post twice.
Try the bottom one now.
