Air foil
No you do not. Just be careful when removing the cover, and the gasket will be fine. To be sure of a good seal, lightly coat gasket with a coat of engine oil before re-assembly...it will seal great. You should also be able to install the foil with the throttle body on the plenum. I 've got one and it works nice. I think the foil helped . On a built 305 / 350 they are rated at giving 10-12 hp max on the TPIS dyno. In reality on a more or less stock engine, I've seen in print 4-6 h.p. being the gain. To enhance the foil, I also gutted the air boxes and went to K&N filters.

I've got a TPiS Air Foil installed on my TB and it produces a noticeable little increase in throttle response, nothing to brag about, but it helps and was worth the money $46.00 (new).
I also have a partial gutted airbox and K&Ns....
