Bringing 90 L98 back from dead looking for suggestions
OK my 90 Formula looks like a derelict, abandoned years ago last registered 2005 L98 TPI what I've done so far:
dropped tank- new tank sender, racetronix pump, new filter, flushed lines to front. Old gas smelled horrid so so bad!
dropped oil and filter - it kind of smelled like the bad gas?
looks like lots of poor repairs and hacks done to this car
now working my way to engine I need to replace front rubber and metal fuel lines - one was cut last guy was going to install inline pump - bad idea I know
bought recently running LT1 injectors - haven't compared supposed to be stock repl for TPI stockers - correct me if I'm wrong I am a novice to injection systems
went with cheap used set as I dont plan on running this engine that much and not cost effective IMO but like all choices I may regret it.
plan on swapping them out found a guide- how to replace em - its been at least 15 years since I put a TPI together.
but was thinking while I had rail out or off anyway If could do visual check for leaks or check FPR for pressure/leaks - since its apart? not sure on this but I dont want to have to do this twice or 3 times
just asking before I start into this instead of after and it isn't running right thought some of more experienced TPI guys have dealt with - I also have to get around my VATS system to get it running/cranking/fueling.
my old 87 was carbed so never had to deal with this stuff alot. Attached is pics of what I found in old tank
one more question is: passengers valve cover- front hole ( pcv size) has nothing there-does air line from TB go into that since PCV is on other cover? Thanks Guys!
Re: Bringing 90 L98 back from dead looking for suggestions
There are different versions of VC plumbing. Early TPI cars have a hard pipe with a couple rubber couplers and a curved pipe to the rear of the VC. Later cars have the 90-degree towards the front and the short hose. Corvettes are different too. And there are truck centerbolt VCs that use the 1/4 turn oil cap instead of the screw in cap. Makes for a lot of different ways it can be cobbled together wrong.
Should only be one hole in the 90 tpi passenger's valve cover.
Re: Bringing 90 L98 back from dead looking for suggestions
Not the best pic, but early TPI are crowded as hell under the hood. Look close and you'll see the rubber elbow grommet near the rear, a curved hard pipe to another 90* rubber coupler, then the hard pipe that bolts to the base below the runners in the middle, up to the front where it turns up and meets ANOTHER coupler to the throttlebody. Needlessly complicated was the rule of the day.

I figured the change would have come in 88 from multi piece steel/rubber vent like 87s but not 100% sure. My 89s have the long 1 piece rubber vent hose like the vets..
Re: Bringing 90 L98 back from dead looking for suggestions
thanks guys - wonder if short hose to front vent is still available or is fuel line it ? I hate using fuel line for stuff, I know it works but I like the OEM look anyway any suggestions on my fuel system?

It's a molded hose. NLA. Use the link posted to the reproduction Vette hose, cut it to length as needed.

Not sure how far apart you have things
leaving the rail hooked up to fuel lines, just pop the rail up out of the lower intake, leave all the injs in the rail if they have the factory clips locking them in place then hit the key or jumper relay to pressure up the system.
You should see inj drip or fuel come out of the regulator vac line if they are bad.

Thanks Tony its not apart yet- vacation starts in a week so I'll venture in around then I thought that on injectors but wasn't sure on regulator I think it has adjustable one on car now but who knows what'll happen after 60 psi is applied
