I'll start by apologizing for starting a thread that most likely already exists. I have yet to find the exact info I'm looking for. I'm sure I'm just not using the right search terms
So I have an 86 Iroc with a 305 TPI. During my restoration ive decided to swap the interior to the 90-92 style. My parts are coming from a 91 Z28 and a 91 RS. I'm not converting to the speed density TPI setup. Will the wiring inside the 91 dash, work with the computer and TPI wiring from the 86?
I am aware of the physical dash bracket differences and the electronic vs cable driven speedo. Neither of those are a problem for me, I'm mainly concerned with combining the 86 computer system with the 91 dash and dash wiring.
The 86 MAF computer has nothing to do with the dashboard. The later SD computer only told the speedo what to do. My best guess says all your gauges (other than the noted speedo) and switches operate in the same manner so I'm willing to bet everything will work. The wiring may have changes colors or places but they should be doing the same things. A factory service manual and checking wires individually is going to be your source for good answers. I'm not sure what exactly more you need or who would have direct answers to it.
