1987 Budget 70mm build
Hey all,
I have a 87 GTA with heads and cam and injectors from previous owner. I am going to begin the fab process of my turbo kit, and hoping to maintain the factory tpi intake. I have 0 experience with anything fuel injected. Carburetors is all I’ve played with. I need some help trying to sort through what all is needed to tune/ or allow others to tune after it’s ready. Any prom tuners in the Pittsburgh area? Is the computer compatible with a boosted set up. Only looking for 8-10 pounds. Want to keep it as simple as possible. Any advice is appreciated!

The advice I will give you is do not even try. The TPI motors hate mods, and getting them to play nice is a nightmare without jumping down an aftermarket moneyhole.
good news is, it's very easy to make any manifold designed for a SBC work with these engines. So if you want to mod your car, go with a carb.

I am in Pittsburgh area. I have turbod my stock 305 tpi car and 7-8 psi really woke it up
it was a remote mounted 70 mm
you will want to switch to speed density 730 ecm. You can run code $59 or boosted $8D posted in this forum. 2-3 bar maps. Should work great
only thing i would suggest is fresh valvesprings. Mine floated with higher than 8 psi. But it could have been part ignition since i think my dizzy cap was cracked. Never did get around to fixing that but an msd ignition box didnt help

TPI engines enjoy turbos quite a bit and there is a variety of intake mods and tuning options for just about every level of power you could want. Don't downgrade to a carb you will have a much better experience with a tuned TPI system. Lots of info here https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/power-adders/
